About

Research profile, education and scientific interests of Mostafa M. Elkady.
RESEARCHER PROFILE · KYUSHU UNIVERSITY

Materials Scientist | Academic Researcher | Industrial R&D.

I investigate how composition, crystal chemistry and defects determine the structural and functional behaviour of inorganic materials, with an emphasis on oxide systems for energy conversion and electrochemical technologies.

Materials researcher

I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Kyushu University, Japan, working in the I²CNER / MCI-CNRC research environment. My current interests include functional oxide ceramics, thermoelectric transport, hydrogen-related materials and photocatalysis.

My research approach combines solid-state synthesis and powder processing with phase analysis, microstructural and optical characterization, and functional measurements. I am particularly interested in connecting defect chemistry and phase evolution with charge, heat and ionic transport.

My doctoral work at Kyushu University focused on functional materials and oxide-based thermoelectric systems. A recent study investigated vanadium substitution in W₁₈O₄₉ and its influence on carrier concentration, power factor and thermal transport.

SCIENTIFIC APPROACH

Three connected questions.

My work is organised around the relationship between what a material is, how it is processed, and how it performs under operating conditions.

01 · CHEMISTRYHow do substitution, defects and phase stability change the material?
02 · STRUCTUREWhat do diffraction, microscopy and spectroscopy reveal about the material state?
03 · FUNCTIONHow do electronic, thermal and ionic transport respond to those changes?
