Image and file guide

This website uses real image slots rather than broken links. The SVG files in assets/images/ are clearly labelled temporary artwork. Article-specific figures belong in that article’s articles/posts/<article-slug>/images/ folder; reserve the shared assets/images/ area for site-wide images. Replace them with your own approved photographs, research figures and conference images as they become available.

Personal photograph

Recommended file: assets/images/profile.jpg

Use a clear, professional portrait (4:5 or 3:4 crop, preferably at least 1200 px on the long edge). After uploading it, change the image source in: - index.qmd - about.qmd - gallery/index.qmd

Replace /assets/images/profile-placeholder.svg with /assets/images/profile.jpg.

Conference and academic activities

Use descriptive filenames such as: - conference-01.jpg - conference-02.jpg - poster-session-01.jpg - invited-talk-01.jpg - workshop-01.jpg

A 4:3 or 16:9 crop works well. For each CV record, the site can show the event name, year, city/country, contribution type (oral, poster, invited talk, participant), presentation title, and a photo or poster image. Do not add event records until the details have been checked against the CV or certificate.

Research figures and laboratory photographs

Suggested naming: - structure-01.png — crystal structure / structural model - xrd-rietveld-01.png — diffraction pattern and refinement - sem-01.png, tem-01.png, eds-map-01.png — microscopy and elemental maps - transport-01.png — Seebeck, conductivity or thermal conductivity - eis-01.png — impedance data - hydrogen-cell-01.jpg — electrochemical cell or setup - photocatalysis-01.png — optical or photocatalytic results - laboratory-01.jpg — lab environment or equipment

For plots, export clean figures at 1600 px wide or larger, with readable axes and legends. For microscopy, include a scale bar and keep the original data available. Captions should state what the image actually shows and identify the relevant sample or measurement.

Academic CV PDF

Place the public version at:

assets/files/Mostafa_Elkady_CV.pdf

Before publication, remove personal identifiers, private home addresses, passport or national ID numbers, signatures, and any private details not needed for professional contact.

Image permissions and quality

Use photographs you own or have permission to publish. Ask permission before publishing identifiable colleagues or students. Avoid screenshots of low-resolution figures when the original plot or image can be exported directly.
