Environmental Monitoring Report
Environmental Monitoring Report
A monitoring report must make the data understandable and auditable: what was measured, where, when, how, under what conditions and with what quality controls.
## 1. Report sections - Executive summary and monitoring objectives. - Site description, monitoring network and location map. - Sampling dates, operating conditions and field observations. - Methods, instruments, laboratory references and deviations. - Results with units, detection/reporting limits and qualifiers. - QA/QC review and data usability statement. - Interpretation, trends, comparison criteria and recommendations. - Appendices: field sheets, chain of custody, laboratory certificates and calibration records.
## 2. Results table template | Location ID | Date / time | Parameter | Result | Unit | Method | Limit / criterion | Data qualifier | |—|—|—|—:|—|—|—|—| | W-01 | YYYY-MM-DD | pH | — | pH units | Approved method | Applicable criterion | — | | W-01 | YYYY-MM-DD | COD | — | mg/L | Approved method | Applicable criterion | — | | A-01 | YYYY-MM-DD | PM | — | µg/m³ | Approved method | Applicable criterion | — |
Replace example rows with validated measurements. Do not use blank or illustrative values as actual results.
## 3. Trend and comparison Compare like with like: same parameter, unit, sampling basis, method context and comparable operating conditions. Identify changes in sampling frequency, detection limits, laboratory methods or site operations that may affect interpretation.
## 4. Data quality statement Summarize calibration checks, blanks, duplicates, laboratory control samples, recoveries, deviations and any rejected or qualified data. State whether the dataset is fit for the intended purpose and explain limitations.
## 5. Interpretation checklist - Are locations representative of the stated objective? - Are dates, times, units and methods traceable? - Are results compared with criteria applicable to this location and period? - Are outliers and non-detects treated transparently? - Are trends supported by sufficient data? - Are conclusions separated from raw observations?
